My toolkit, gear & tools that I use every day in my projects & life
- Emojis everywhere
- Immutable data everywhere
Development tools (IDE, Terminal, β¦)
- π» VS Code for everything. Unbeatable speed & dev bliss.
- β‘οΈ Hyper as my only terminal, with some plugins.
- π² Bash shell (custom dotfile config)
- π Used to use Dash, but recently replaced it with DevDocs which I like more.
- π³ Docker (for Mac & Kitematic) for most of the things I actually want to deploy or need in the background.
- π GIT IN THE SHELL LIKE A HARDCORE DEV.
- π΄ Insomnia for network requests and tinkering with HTTP.
- π» Homebrew which offers everything. I'll always check homebrew-cask first before downloading an app through its website. The modularity and ease-of-use makes it so awesome.
- π I lied a bit before and sometimes use Fork when I need to do complex Git mumbo jumbo or need a project overview.
- π€ When reverse engineering APIs, apps, etc mitmproxy is thing I need.
Productivity apps
- π 1Password, which I love to death. Seriously this app, wow, amazing
- π OneNote to store every reference to an article about dev, tech, world, news & recipes. The syncing engine and mobile apps suck though.
- π¨ Airmail because I like the custom options of tags and visual language they use
- π Paste, an awesome clipboard manager whice makes it really really easy to sync clips between work & home and organise snippets.
- π© Alfred. Trackpads and mouses are for noobs. I'm a workflow wonderchild.
- β Things. Mainly on the iPhone and the mail option/Reminders.app option for desktop since the price is a bit too steep. But this truly is the only task manager which actually helps me get things done.
- π Rocket for easy and quick typing of emojis.
- π Spectacle with center, full screen and next display as the only shortcuts.
- π Google Calendar as the service & app on the iPhone. Stock macOS calendar at work and home, but I really want Fantastical but why is it so expensiveβ¦
- ποΈ Notion as my all-in-one tool for issue tracking, documentation, planning, checklists. This app will blow you away.
- π¦ NightOwl for switching light/dark theme in sync with the sunset.
Design
- πΈ Sometimes I'll shell out my Nikon D51000. Most of the time it'll be my iPhone 8 though. When I do, I'll use Lightroom for editing.
- π Pentax P30N which I am using to learn how to shoot on 35mm film.
- π€³π» iPhone 8 loaded with Halide (BUY THIS!), VSCO, Darkroom & Google Photos. Killer combo.
- π Sketch mostly, like the rest of the REAL designers, but these days I tend to use Figma more since it's free and runs everywhere.
Workspace
- π₯ HP Pavilion 23xi which is a bit outdated (though Full HD and IPS) but looks really nice design-wise
- π± Apple Magic Trackpad which I got for β¬30!
- π Plethora of plants
- π Raspberry Pi's for as much stuff as I can. Mostly automated or always on applications.
- π― Scented candles.
- An Intel NUC 6CAY as my homelab server. Big time in love with this.
At work specifics
- π± Logitech MX Master. Best mouse in town.
- π₯ Dell U2417H Ultrasharp monitor.
- π Combo of git in the shell & VS Code Git integration
- π The amazing & stylish Pinqponq Cubik Medium backpack
- π΅ Lots and lots and lots of cups of tea. Mate, Chai and then some.
- π₯€ Club mate as my caffeine boost & most cherised soda.
Music gear
- π Libratone Loop as the wireless speaker for the living room. Exquiste design & sound, one of my favorite brands.
- π Libratone Zipp Mini on my desk which I can easily move around.
- π§ AIAIAI TMA-2, which is probably the best mid-range headphone ever. Current preset: S03-H05-E02-C01 (+ E05 and H03 as spare parts).
- π΅ iTunes Match. Yes, I'm one of the only people who actually likes iTunes and utilises it 'till my fingers bleed.
- π Pioneer DJM-750 MK2 4 channel digital mixer.
- π 2x KRK-RP6. These things are total vicious beasts.
- πΏ 2x Pioneer PLX-500 with Ortofon Concorde MK2 Mix
- πΏ 2x Pioneer XDJ-1000 which are perfect for spinning sets from USB at home.
- βΊ The Pioneer DJM-REC app which just works with my mixer. For editing and recording records I mostly use Audition since it is A MONSTER.
